Clap to Our Abroad Students in Australia

Malaysian Australia students project named With Love, Down Under made a success in their charity project to raise fund for the HIV/AIDS kids back in 2008 in Malaysia. It continues with their second project With Love, Down Under Charity Gig – a night of music event bringing all Malaysian bands from across Australia, Malaysian underground designers and traders, local foods, and drawing the Malaysian people under one roof.

This event will take place on July 11, 2009 at University of New South Wales in Sydney. With Love, Down Under Charity Gig aims to raise sufficient fund to sponsor and assist an orphanage organization, Pertubuhan Penyayang Raudhah.

By getting a great assistance from Air Asia, Flop Poppy will be coming to show their support and perform in Australia’s biggest city. With Love, Down Under is also organizing other performances for them around Sydney. This is a huge advantage for Flop Poppy to expose Malaysia’s local talent abroad.

By paying AUD15 for a ticket, guests will be entertained throughout the whole night by diverse talented Malaysian bands and musicians from each state of Australia, art exhibits and stalls, film clip, and celebrity band from Malaysia. The best band among all the performers will be going back with a grand prize. With Love, Down Under is determine to organise an event that will satisfy all the Malaysian students in Australia by putting music, fashion and local delicacies together.

“Even though we are far away from home, we want to let our home people know that we still care as well and at the same time, we’d also like to increase the awareness amongst the young Malaysians abroad the importance of contributing back to their society”, said Erina Zahara Ellias, event director.
(More over…)

With Love, Down Under Charity Gig is organised by a group of Malaysian students in Australia under the name of Kelab UMNO New South Wales, lead by Erina Zahara Ellias. The event is also collaboration with other Malaysian Students Organisation (MSO) in Australia such as Melbourne, Queensland, Canberra, Western Australia and Adelaide.

This is the second With Love, Down Under charity project; the first project in 2007/08 managed to collect RM32,255.80 and the full amount was donated to Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Pesakit AIDS/HIV Nurul Iman Malaysia (PERNIM).After the major success from the first project, the team was inspired to run more charity efforts.

Pertubuhan Penyayang Raudhah (Gombak) has a total of 90 children living in a house with only two rooms. With Love, Down Under aims to pull together as much money as possible to give ample aid by building a new hostel for the children and hopefully expose their organization to the public to encourage donations.

With Love, Down Under Charity Gig entirely depends on sponsorships and donations in order to run this project successfully. The organisers appeal for donations from the generous hearts of Malaysians to help them achieve their mission and passion to help the unfortunates.
